Holey Holey Holey

Jim, the excavator showed up at 7:30 this morning and began digging. 5 dump truck loads of dirt were hauled away to make room for the foundation and crawl space beneath the addition.

My Apologies for Not Posting

Friday through Monday were spent demolishing the upstairs guest bathroom. Here are a few pictures, before and after.

Here are a couple of after pictures of the bathroom:

On Monday, the excavator called saying he would be here on Wednesday... this IS commitment. We had to take down part of the chimney chase so that they can get underneath it with the foundation forms. Thank God Josh was available to help. One minor glitch... when they ran the pipe for the gas fireplace, they ran it right out under the chase. We will have to relocate the gas line into the existing structure.

I cannot believe what lies ahead!

Finally -- Let the fun begin!

Today, three weeks after submitting the plans for the addition, I received the building permit. Tomorrow the summer project begins. Tonight we head to Epic for dinner.

Where there once was a door, there is now a stud wall. The closet has shifted 3 feet to the left.

Today's Progress

After planting a couple of trays of seeds including additional tomatoes, peppers, State Fair Zinnias, and African Daisies. I gathered up by tools of destruction, and set out on a wrecking
rampage.

I have now come to the tub surround and plumbing. I will not be touching these until I have my permit.

Update

Last Thursday, March 3rd, the architect delivered the final plans, along with the engineers documents. Quite a body of work for a simple addition. I immediately took two sets of plans down to Sandy City for them to review so I may get my building permit. I am still waiting to hear from the city.

On Friday the 4th Alina and Nick arrived for their annual skiing outing. They had to hurry back a day early to take care of some business, and they left at 10:30 this morning. I got right to work.

Here are the before and after shots of todays destruction.
