On Hold Again

Some progress was made during the week, but not as much as we had hoped. By this time we had thought we might have the main floor joists on and the sub-floor added. Not to be.

On Wednesday, the excavator came and backfilled the foundation.

He also left a truck full of gravel which needs to be spread out on top of moisture barrier (plastic) to give a better ground covering in the crawl space. Gage has begun the process of spreading the gravel. Of course if I put the plastic down in the whole crawl space and it rains, then we will have a pond in the crawl space. It seems that vapor barrier works both ways.

On Thursday, the concrete cutters came to cut the access to the crawl space into our basement. We wanted the access inside rather than outside. It will be hidden (eventually) behind a regular looking door. We had to tear into the basement anyways at some point to get to the waste stack. The round hole is where the waste pipe will go through the foundation into the existing basement.

The materials for the main floor were also delivered on Thursday and Josh and I were able to get some of the sill plates mounted before the thunder and snow started.

Now the materials sit in my and Joshs' driveways under a cover of snow.

I have done some work inside to try and bring some order of normalcy back to the house... but not much. I will be working on getting the unfinished laundry room ready for the new washer and dryer, so we can get rid of the existing laundry room and make the changes to the mainfloor of the house that will be required.
